Providing a Connection Air-Iraq is providing the connection between Iraq and the rest of the world. The initial schedule will consist of 3 weekly flights between Washington, DC, (BWI) and Baghdad. Subsequently, within the next 6 months, we will institute other connections between Baghdad and European and Pacific countries, while a regional subsidiary of Air-Iraq will provide flight services between major cities in Iraq and neighboring countries. Such an air bridge is essential for both the US and Iraq to successfully achieve planned reconstruction goals in post-war Iraq. Support of IAP Air-Iraq is the first part of the Iraqi Aviation Consortium, which is working on the Iraq Aerospace-Aviation Program (IAP). IAP has the support of the US government, including the State department, DoD, DoT, DoC and other US agencies, as well as the new Iraqi government; it also has the unconditional support of the US-Iraq Business Council, US-Iraq Resources, AMS, IPS, ATI, NAA, DynCorp, Willis Aviation, CorporateBank International, and many prominent individuals and other businesses in both Iraq and the US. IAP is still
seeking additional partners and associates--both corporations and individuals--for
its program and implementation of its goals. Phases IAP plans to set up and select local Iraqi operators and employees for the following:
Although
all five projects have to start simultaneously, the urgent need for air
transportation dictates that we expedite the Air Iraq project to facilitate
the reconstruction program.
